I Pity The Poor Cataloguer...

Just catalogued 2 books for my esteemed colleagues in Engineering. Using Heritage from IS Oxford this is really simple - Heritage retrieves the biblioinfo from the British Library. As Andy Gray might say, shootie-in.
However, the books from Pearson Education come with accompanying CD-ROMs with support materials. Security, copyright & accession issues.
Not to mention the Instructor Resources page on the Pearson site - Powerpoint presentations.
Plus the software download that you need to use the support materials - remember the CD-ROM - in the first place.
And of course much of this is zipped so you either have to get IT to download it for you or do it at home, but then you can't install the stuff anyway. But as a librarian I can't download the stuff anyway - registered instructors only. Yet who has to instruct the instructors on making full use of all of these resources?

...and all this technology has been presumed (by HR departments) to make our little librarian lives a lot easier. Aye. Right!
