The Poetry Archive has announced the creation of a long-term partnership with the Chicago-based Poetry Foundation. The two organisations share many common goals and, over the next three years, the collaboration will make it possible for the Archive to add recordings by more than 100 key American poets.
The list of poets has been drawn up by the United States Poet Laureate, Donald Hall, after discussions with the U.K. Laureate, Andrew Motion, and editorial staff at the Poetry Foundation. It includes historic recordings by American poets from the past and new recordings, which will be made by leading American poets of today. On the list are such names as Elizabeth Bishop, Robert Frost, Sylvia Plath, Anne Sexton, Ezra Pound and Ogden Nash.
