Is it OK to be a technologically illiterate teacher?

The title of this post is actually the title of a post by Karl Fisch on his Fischbowl blog. This post has been nominated for the "Most Influential Post" in this year's Edublogs awards.

I'm not going to comment on the post - check the rest of this blog over the past few years & you might come to the conclusion that he's just saying something a wee bit more openly & succinctly than I've been willing to do here.

Just read it. Vote for it. Make a senescent librarian happy for Christmas.

But remember, a librarian isn't just for Christmas, but for life...

And whilst we're on about the Edublog Awards here's a list of the nominated library sites:

  1. HI--I tried to find out if you are a librarian too, but your blog doesn't indicate this, though the post leads me to believe you are. AM I missing your profile somewhere on the page? I love Karl's post too, and have referenced it myself before. Great post.

Another question: Why are only those with google accounts allowed to comment? Glad i still have my google account, though I don't use it for any professional reasons anymore. I blog overe at http://technotuesday.edublogs.org

  2. Hi Cathy (in case you come back)

Sorry about the clandestine nature of the blog; it was originally born out of the frustration of not convincing out ICT people that a local Wordpress install might be a good idea. (I still think so). So I went beyond the firewall but had to present the blog in such a way that anything vaguely controversial (anti-teacher, anti-techie, ant-anything-else) would be perceived as the rantings of a maverick librarian that did not cast the college in a bad light.
Librarian as accused and sometimes I am one when I'm not a web-designer (he wishes!) & the many other things that librarians have to be these days.
As for comments, as Dylan said, Either I'm too sensitive or else I'm getting soft.
    I'll change the settings.
